🎬 Constantine 2 (2025) – Movie Review
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Tilda Swinton, Sofia Boutella, Peter Stormare
Genre: Supernatural Thriller, Action, Fantasy
Two decades after the cult classic revolutionized the genre, Constantine 2 (2025) returns with a vengeance, darker, deeper, and more profane than ever. With Keanu Reeves reprising the role of cynical exorcist and demon hunter John Constantine, this long-awaited sequel delivers a hellish blend of gothic horror, celestial warfare, and spiritual redemption.
Now older, weary, and more powerful, Constantine finds himself caught between Heaven, Hell, and something even more terrifying: a new force that threatens to tear apart the veil between the realms. When the angel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) returns with cryptic warnings, and Lucifer himself (Peter Stormare, in a chilling retaliation) offers a twisted alliance, Constantine is forced to embark on an apocalyptic investigation that encompasses cursed cathedrals, demonic underworlds, and the forgotten halls of purgatory.
Sofia Boutella joins the cast as Selene, a rogue occultist with a blood pact that could be the key to saving—or dooming—humanity. Her chemistry with Reeves adds a touch of intensity to the film’s emotional core.
Visually, the film is a feast of fire and shadow: shimmering sigils, twisting hellscapes, and shattered cathedrals bathed in candlelight. Director Francis Lawrence returns to the helm, delivering stylish mayhem with stunning sets and a haunting atmosphere. The action is brutal, the theology is blasphemously bold, and the tone is unashamedly grim.
But beyond the spectacle, Constantine 2 is also a story of guilt, sacrifice, and the faint hope that even the damned can find redemption.
With a shocking final act and a shocking post-credits scene that paves the way for something bigger, Constantine 2 is a resurrection done right: brutal, beautiful, and absolutely brutal.
